1st day of internship ... as expected - i dun have work to do yet! today i had a orientation tour around the whole unit of sweet goods (others such as beverage, fragrance, savoury goods). Wah! i didn't expect it to be so tiring - of just meeting people from different departments. i supposed it's cuz of the info they provided - too much 4 me to absorb at one go! that's y by the 2nd "speaker", my brain was half-shut down already! thinking i will be alone for lunch, so i brought sandwich for lunch; but i found Nicky - another intern from NUS, so we now will have lunch-mate. but actually i would like to eat sandwich - healthier & save $. but now.. hmm... actually i shld count myself quite lucky: - my job is more interesting than hers (she's doing market research & combined material 4 the presentation for beverage side) - this morny i thot i would be late, panicking even more when i realized that there's only $5 in my wallet - oh no! how am i gonna take a cab if i'm really late? luckily i wasn't, in fact, the timing was just right! i guess i can just wake up abit later now, and take this bus for the future! - when i reached novena, i had another problem, cuz i'm not sure where is the stand exactly, Eugene (my supervisor) said it's in front of the Revenue House, so i just asked a "passer-by", and just happened that he's also an intern for firmenich! *phew!* thank god for giving me such a smooth path mann... - heard from Nicky, Jasmine (HR in-charge) said we are not allowed to wear jeans - which i wore today, with a shirt. i meant Eugene said dress code is semi-formal, ain't i right? well.. surprisingly the people there also dressed up pretty well, like normal typical office, probably less "pretty" than those work in shenton way. but i'm really surprised! well... from tmr onwards, i have to wear formal already! haiz... thought i could wake up abit later, but i guess not! sianz... :( today it's quite interesting - know alot more about flavouring... gotta try the biscuits they "created", and really exposed to many unusal & new things. For eg, machines that make candies, ice cream, biscuits... many many more! and this internship - i can get to learn how to use photoshop - which is so useful! yeah! and i'll get to keep a copy of the "portfolio" - done all by myself, probably will some help from the other staffs. i think this will be very useful for my future internship / job application! (esp for O & M - i think) one more thing - actually they wanted to let me try to make candies, but they found it abit not feasible, as it'll complicate things with additional info, so they want me to focus on the portfolio 1st, at least 8 copies - depending how fast i pick up photoshop! i wish i can make candies - have a great experience there also good mah! since it's really something unusual! well! i'm really looking forward to this job, thou it'll be very tiring, esp of the travelling - i cant believe that i zzz throughout on the way to novena from office. i also don't know why m i so tired, i guess it's that i used alot of energy to pay 100% attention to whatever they said (as far as possible). so now, i'm going to zzz (earliest nite so far ever since my holiday)! i think for the near future, i'll be zzz this early! - what a sad life! cant really chat already! but lately, my msn also have lotsa problems - cant log in! i don't know why also! hope tmr's job won't be too tiring! ***to ankh & mama, actually i thought this could be a career option for u - cuz it's not something boring, people here are friendly, and it really make use of what u've learnt, maybe u two can consider this industry!
